Our client, an elite high-frequency proprietary trading firm, seeks a front office Risk Manager, with a strong background in quantitative trading and systematic strategies to work in the global risk management team.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Providing risk oversight for the Americas trading activities of the firm by focusing on market, operational, and quantitative execution risk
  • Assisting the Chief Risk Officer and Global Head of Market Risk in overseeing and managing risk for the regional trading activities
  • Controlling in real-time both quantitative execution risk and market risk of trading strategies, and consequently escalating, reporting, and resolving any risk related issues in a timely manner
  • Working closely with the portfolio managers, traders, core engineering team, and prime brokers to respond effectively to any risk limit violation and resolving any trading related issues
  • Assisting risk management and risk technology teams to enhance the proprietary risk systems and design next-generation risk management and trade supervision tools
  • Conducting ad-hoc risk analysis and back-testing on a regular basis
  • Interacting continuously with the global risk team
  • Providing risk assistance to the global operational risk function
  • Participating and representing risk department in various internal and external meetings
  • Collaborating effectively with various departments and providing risk support and advisory as appropriate

Key Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree, with a master’s or MBA highly regarded
  • Over 5 years of experience in a front office market risk or quantitative risk role
  • Electronic trading or risk experience in a quantitative proprietary trading group, systematic hedge fund manager, or sell-side front-office facing role
  • Broad knowledge of global equities, futures, foreign exchange, and options markets
  • Understanding of regional regulations and markets exchange-specific rules
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • The desire to continuously learn and proactively challenge the status quo to improve existing processes
  • Solid track record of working well with senior management, compliance and legal, and business and IT teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid Excel, VBA, and database proficiency. Knowledge of SQL and Python (a plus)
